How to Motivate Yourself to Stay Active at Home

Create a Schedule to Stick to

When exercising, I like to create a schedule that I am going to follow so I know when it fits into my day-to-day life. Creating a schedule motivates you to do it more as I know for me I get disappointed if I haven’t completed everything I wanted to for that day.

Ask Friends/Family to Join in

During the lockdown, I think it has been quite hard to motivate yourself to workout alone. By asking family members (or out of lockdown friends) to join you, you can lift each other up when one isn’t feeling up for it that day.

Working out with a friend or a family member also makes exercising more fun and enjoyable because you can make it fun.

Mix it Up

Making sure that you are mixing up your exercises each time is important so you don’t get bored! I would recommend researching classes you can do, different techniques or routines of lifting weights so you can change it so you don’t get too bored.

I have been doing classes online during the lockdown and to change it up a bit I’ll do 3 different classes each week and then repeat that week every 2/3 weeks so I don’t get bored of the same things. I will also change the videos I watch online so it is not the same routine over and over again!

Set a Goal

Setting goals is important for anything in life, your blog, your job, your family, etc. I would highly recommend setting a goal for yourself and exercising as this can help motivate you to keep at it. For example, if you want to get into running then your goal could be to run 5k without stopping and you want to reach it in 3 months’ or 6 months’ time.

This goal will help to motivate you to keep at it so you can complete it and tell yourself that you have done amazing! Then after completing that goal you move onto the next!
