Waitrose

Waitrose Saffron Walden has taken the decision to return to normal opening hours of 7am-9pm.
The first hour will still be maintained for the elderly and vulnerable.
This is to allow customers to have the option to shop later, and also allow those key workers in other industries to still be able to shop after finishing work themselves.

Levels of stock on shelves are improving daily allowing this return to normal hours to be feasible.

Tesco

Tescos are closing at 10pm Monday to Friday. Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-10am are reserved for the elderly & vulnerable to shop, please share with your family and friends who need to know!

We’ve listened to your feedback and are now adding an additional hour to prioritise NHS workers every Tuesday and Thursday. This is along with browsing hour before checkouts open on Sundays, all of which gives them dedicated time to shop for their essentials. All we ask is, if you’re an NHS worker, that you bring a form of NHS ID to our stores, such as a staff card. This priority time will be available in all stores except Express stores.

As well as priority hours, we’re giving NHS, emergency service, and care workers priority access to our stores to help them shop when they have the time. Please come to the front of the queue with your valid ID to enter.

To the rest of our customers, please respect our NHS workers and avoid shopping during these dedicated times.

Priority Opening

All day everyday key workers in the NHS, Police and Fire Service will take priority ahead of queues into our stores upon showing a valid ID. From Tuesday 14th April, we have extended our priority shopping time for emergency workers which will now include all groups entitled to a Blue Light card. This includes all Social Care Workers, First Responders and St John’s Ambulance staff, amongst many others. This is in addition to early access on a Sunday, where they can enter stores 30 minutes prior to opening.

We also opening 30 minutes early Monday – Saturday for the Elderly (over 70) and vulnerable. Please note, in England and Wales, this is for browsing only. In Scotland, purchases can be made during this time.

Opening Hours

From Tuesday 14th April, we will be extending our opening hours until 10pm Monday to Saturday. Our shelves are now well stocked throughout the day. Our busiest time is first thing in the morning, so by extending our hours you have more time to shop safely. Normal Sunday opening hours remain in place.

A post from Essex Corona Virus Action:

It’s taken a little while for all of the major supermarkets to get a plan together, but we’re delighted to say that after meeting with the government, many of them have now put special arrangements in place to ensure that the most vulnerable people who are self-isolating during the Coronavirus outbreak can get the shopping that they need, both in-store and online. Full details are in the links below.
